Dr Eckart Schumann

Dr Schumann’s research focuses on the physical processes of the ocean and estuaries. He has worked extensively along the east and south coasts of South Africa, examining nearshore currents, temperature and salinity structures, and processes such as coastal trapped waves. More recently, his research has expanded to explore the potential for renewable energy in the coastal environment. This work considers key driving forces such as wind, while also recognising the important role that estuarine variability plays in shaping and supporting the utilisation of South Africa’s coastal environment.
